“Get acquainted with the mysteriously awesome PVRIS before they become the biggest thing in rock. For fans of The Neighbourhood, CHVRCHES, and Paramore, PVRIS arethe best thing since sliced bread.” That’s what MTV said about the Boston-based trio of vocalist Lynn Gunn, guitarist Alex Babinski and bassist Brian MacDonald and the band is certainly living up to the hype: over the past few months, they performed on“Jimmy Kimmel Live!,”were spotlighted on“Last Call with Carson Daly,”hit the road with Fall Out Boy and Awolnation for a North American arena tour and were featured on the cover ofAlternative Press. That followed a year in which they hit No. 1 on Billboard’s“Emerging Artists” and “Trending 140” charts, played to packed-house crowds around the world and racked up over 12 million total YouTube views and15 million total streams in the US alone (the latest being more than 14.7 million Spotify streams and 3.4 million views for their“You And I”video). The band is led by 21-year-old vocalist Lynn Gunn, who theHuffington Postdescribed as “a force that cannot be denied.” They’re currently putting the touches on a much-anticipated new album, due out later this year.
Slenderbodies writes songs for you to experience like a
blanket or a warm breeze of equatorial air. The California
based duo met while attending a University and came
together as a creative force 3 years later. The two wrote,
recorded and produced their debut album “sotto voce” over
the span of a month and 380 miles. The result was an
emotionally impactful, sonically soft collection of songs, with
intricate airy guitar work complemented by gentle vocals and
present drums. With vivid imagery at at the forefront of vocal
waves, the duo paints portraits of siren songs, sultry nights
with foreign lovers, lost romance and home. Almost a year
following, they have returned with fabulist, the surreal story
of two entwined souls, drawn out to sea together.
Most bands fail when attempting to combine the dark melodic undertones of metal and hardcore with sing along chorus's that get stuck in your head for days. Requiem have succeeded beyond anyone's expectations by putting out some of the catchiest rock songs in the scene today. With breathtaking vocals by Jacklyn Paulette and Steven Juliano (former front man of Epitaph Records powerhouse group I Am Ghost) and the combination of souring orchestra's mixed with vicious metal guitars and bass, the group have stepped forward as visionaries in a time when most bands sound the same.
The first studio album by Requiem, titled "The Unexplainable Truth", features 14 brand new songs and will be available in stores everywhere Tuesday, October 28th, 2014 by Cleopatra Records.
