Band Picture PRESS RELEASE Benefit Concert - "Freedom, Justice & Peace" featuring Babatunde Olatunji & Drums of Passion & New-B-I

It's been too long since Santa Cruz has had the pleasure of hearing and experiencing the healing rhythms of Babatunde Olatunji. On March 8th the Foundation For The Healing Arts (FHA) will not only bring to the Catalyst Nigerian Master Drummer, recording artist and teacher Babatunde Olatunji & the Drums Of Passion but, our listening pleasure will be broadened with the addition of a local group "New-B-I". Featuring Sikiru Adepoju who has just completed work with Grateful Dead drummer, Mickey Hart, on his new CD, Tanyah and GloriaRain, performers/songwriters and founders of "New-B-I", are sure to add their "ancient meets techno" variations to the rhythms of the evening. As kick-off events to the American Indian & World Cultures Festival given by "One Earth, One People" to be held at the San Juan Bautista Mission on May 4th and 5th1 there will also be a "Gathering of Spirits" for freedom, justice and peace on March 9th featuring Babatunde Olatunji at the Pacific Cultural Center. Proceeds from both events will be donated to FHA for its support of the festival.
